Mother’s Day

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

I had a quite nice Mother’s Day. Well, except for the fact that it rained buckets upon buckets of water after noon, and well into the night. But that just made it a great day to stay inside and be lazy! I talked to my mom, and also talked to both of my sons, who live in other states. My daughter, who is still at home, made dinner: chicken cordon bleu and strawberry shortcake. Very yum! My sweet daughter got me something I’ve been wanting–a food scale. I haven’t used it yet in the 2 days that I’ve had it, but there have been many times that I’ve wanted one, and after watching Alton Brown on The Food Network, I’m not sure how a cook can survive without one! My son and daughter-in-law got me a flowering plant, a Begonia, which I just love. You can never go wrong with flowers. Oh, and my daughter’s fiance brought me a bouquet of cut flowers (orange roses, with those purple fuzzy flowers they use for filler/color–really beautiful color combination with the green leaves in there also) when he came over. With a day like that, who could ask for more!

Happy Mother’s Day to you all great mothers out there!

A Sunny Day in May

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

I was in such a rush to get a blog, but by the time I did, I was at a loss as to what to say. So for today, to get myself started, I will just describe today. It is my wonderful husband’s birthday, so to celebrate we went out to the Apple store to get a lesson about using our iMAC to its fullest advantage (well, that wasn’t the celebration part), then we bought him a new iPod and went to lunch at one of his favorite places–The Cheesecake Factory. Boy it was good! It was a good day. Unfortunately, the poor guy is now out mowing the lawn, on his birthday. But it is a very warm sunny day here in southern Maryland, and we are enjoying it!
